MÅNE "NEW MOON"

PERFORMANCE 2018, OSLO

MÅNE “New Moon” is a costume dance performance, and was presented at Collective Fashion Art Festival on the 12th October at Mellomstasjon - en route to the new Nasjonalmuseet, in Oslo, Norway. The new moon symbolise new beginnings, reflection and our inner feelings. Lieu has created the scenography, projection video and costumes for MÅNE “New Moon”. The music was specially composed for the performance in collaboration with Tri Minh, Vietnamese Electronic Artist based in Copenhagen.

Through this performance Lieu was working with the costumes and performers to explore the the concept of “new moon”. Lieu created a conceptual clothing design which was very open to allow movement, as well to represent a nude vulnerability. Where the dancer was imagining themselves as a newborn child discovering the movement of the body for the first time. Where the dancer was imagining herself as a newborn child discovering the movement of the body for the first time. By creating immersive spaces that incorporate design, fashion and performance, the dancers were exploring the balance between yin and yang, between feminine and masculine. The whole performance was improvised based on the dancer's own interpretation of the storyboard Lieu had written. The aim was to create a natural first meeting between the dancer, the clothes and the concept "New Moon".
